Embedded Systems Conference–Boston, MA, September 13, 2005–SBS Technologies® (NASDAQ:SBSE) continues its role as an embedded computer market leader by introducing the new line of graphic PMCs based on ATI Technologies’ Radeon Mobility 9000 (M9) mobile graphics processor supporting 2D and 3D acceleration, OpenGL, and DirectX. The rugged off-the-shelf G2 line from SBS is ideal for military and avionics applications such as cockpit avionics applications and terrain overlay systems, or any application that requires a small footprint and high display performance.

The G2 Graphics PMC Module Family consists of three models: the G2 Basic PMC, the G2 Dual PMC and the G2 Plus PMC. Each PMC module is available in a commercial grade, extended temperature or rugged conduction-cooled versions. These flexible combinations of different ruggedness and temperature levels offer engineers unprecedented video PMC choices, with off-the-shelf delivery and the option of product customization.

With one of the broadest ranges of temperature coverage available, the G2 Graphics PMC line’s various models are designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C. Each G2 Graphic PMC shares the same features of 64 MBytes of video RAM, integrated display output, reduced-power optimization and graphics acceleration to help reduce host processor overhead.

“SBS is introducing this line of high-performance PMC graphics products to meet the challenge of increasing demand for advanced graphics display required in situational awareness systems. Now, military and avionics systems engineers have their choice from a wide variety of graphics I/O options and rugged levels. The G2 Graphic PMC line’s extensive temperature and environmental grades, combined with SBS Technologies’ proven product support, ensures that our customers can develop their applications quickly and with precisely the right graphics PMC module,” said Dave Wessing, General Manager of SBS Technologies’ Government Group.

The economical G2 Basic PMC is designed for applications that need only a single display output channel. The G2 Basic provides a wide range of display output options including DVI with up to 1600 X 1200 pixel resolution, LVDS, RGB, NTSC, PAL and S-Video.

About the G2 Dual PMC

The flexible G2 Dual PMC features the same video display output support options as the G2 Basic PMC and adds another display channel for those applications that require dual displays.

About the G2 Plus PMC

The G2 Plus PMC provides the broadest range of capabilities in the G2 Graphics PMC Family. Dual display outputs plus up to two channels of video input capture make the G2 Plus PMC an ideal choice for demanding video capture applications. The G2 Plus PMC’s addition of graphics overlay capabilities is especially useful for applications requiring display and manipulation of multiple video streams.

The G2 Graphics PMC Modules are supported by optional OpenGL drivers from ALT Software Inc., which are available for a number of different operating systems including Linux, VxWorks, Integrity and Windows XP. ALT’s DO-178B Level A certifiable OpenGL driver is also supported on all major hardware platforms.

Price and Availability:

Available now, the pricing for the G2 Graphics PMC Module in single quantities starts at US$2,200.
