Billerica, MA: March 13th, 2006: Providing further evidence of the high regard in which the company’s rugged embedded computing solutions are held, Radstone Embedded Computing today announced that it had received a $13 million extension to an existing LTA (Long Term Agreement) from Harris GCSD (Government Communications Systems Division) of Melbourne, Florida. The extension relates to the supply of Radstone’s PowerXtreme PPC7EP executive processor (a custom version of the company’s PPC7D processor) which will be used as part of the upgrade to the Universal Fire Control System (UFCS) for Lockheed Martin’s [NYSE: LMT] High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). A variant of the PPC7EP, which will include Radstone’s PMCGA4C graphics accelerator mezzanine card, will also be supplied to Harris, who has been contracted by Lockheed Martin to perform the upgrade.

“We’re delighted to have been awarded this extension by Harris,” said Peter Cavill, President of Radstone Embedded Computing. “HIMARS – like MLRS before it – is a program that places enormous demands on its computing infrastructure in terms of performance and reliability, and selection of the PPC7 processor by Harris is a testament, we feel, to the market-leading qualities of our products. We look forward to working with Harris to ensure the success of the upgrade program.”

Radstone was previously selected by Harris Corporation – originally in 1999 – to provide processors and mezzanine cards as part of a program to upgrade over 900 MLRS units in service with the US Army.

The U.S. Army’s battle-proven HIMARS is the newest member of the MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) family. Developed originally by Lockheed Martin in 1996, HIMARS entered service in June 2005. Three prototype HIMARS launchers were successfully used in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The purpose of HIMARS is to engage and defeat artillery, air defense concentrations, trucks, light armor and personnel carriers, as well as support troop and supply concentrations. HIMARS is able to launch its weapons and move away from the area at high speed before enemy forces are able to locate the launch site.
