Tampa, Florida, September 28, 2011. The Channel One Group has launched Core Avionics and Industrial (“CoreAVI”) to provide temperature-screened high performance graphics components that include real time driver support for high reliability embedded computing applications. A worldwide provider of AMD Graphics Processor Units (GPUs) and System on a Chip (SOC) products, CoreAVI’s product line includes versions of the AMD Radeon™ E4690 graphics processor that are temperature-screened by CoreAVI.
“Channel One has proven itself internationally as a provider of AMD graphics processors being deployed in markets that require more than the traditional five to seven years longevity of supply,” said Rich Jaenicke, director, Embedded Client Business, AMD (NYSE:AMD). “AMD looks forward to expanding the scope of our relationship with CoreAVI and continuing to grow our mil-aero and real-time operating system customer base.”
Building on the vast successful deployments of AMD Radeon™ graphics processor family into the avionics market, CoreAVI is able to provide its customers with a turnkey “program ready” product and service offering that includes temperature screened processors that can be certified to DO-254 for use in commercial and military aircraft, DO-178B certifiable graphics drivers for safety critical real-time operating systems, and long-term environmentally controlled storage of components to support the full 15-20 year product life cycle of typical mil-aero programs. This product offering also includes comprehensive customer support throughout the DO-254 and DO-178B certification process, including provision of all certification artifacts required for regulatory approval by aviation agencies such as the FAA, EASA, and Transport Canada.
“Avionics and other mil-aero embedded system manufacturers have unique requirements that a preferred component supplier must be able to address in order to ensure both short and long term program success,” said Lee Melatti, CEO of CoreAVI. “CoreAVI builds on Channel One and ALT Software’s strategic relationships with AMD as well as our past successes bringing AMD Radeon graphics to mil-aero markets. By including safety critical support, 20 year component supply, component temperature screening, and graphics drivers for real-time operating systems, CoreAVI is positioned to address all the critical requirements of mil-aero graphics component customers.”
“CoreAVI offers a comprehensive product and service offering that hits all the bases with our aerospace and defense customers,” said Darryl Parisien, President and CEO of ALT Software. “We are looking forward to supporting this new Channel One division with custom safety critical graphics software that meets the specific needs of aerospace and defense system manufacturers.”
