CHANDLER, Ariz. — October 20, 2008 — Furthering its commitment to provide its customers with industry-leading capabilities and services, Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT) today announced the grand opening of a state-of-the-art, 228,000 square-foot technology integration and logistics facility – the Avnet Global Solutions Center. The facility provides integration services and support for Avnet Technology Solutions’ value-added reseller (VAR) and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers and roughly doubles the company’s Americas integration capacity.
“Increasing demand for Avnet’s higher-end technology integration services, such as complex server configurations and software customization, drove our need for additional capacity. With the opening of the new integration and logistics facility, Avnet continues to invest in our ability to provide valuable services that enable our partners to accelerate their growth and to pursue global opportunities. The center also allows us to capitalize on our global scale by enhancing our abilities to design a solution once and build it anywhere around the globe,” commented Roy Vallee, chairman and chief executive officer of Avnet.
Located in Chandler, Arizona, the Avnet Global Solutions Center includes:
– 118,000 square feet of high-bay warehouse space with 10,000 pallet locations featuring wire-guided forklifts and a new state-of-the-art warehouse management system
– A 45,000 square-foot integration center
– Dedicated receiving and outbound shipping areas for fast, efficient receipt of shipment to and from customers
– A 3,000 square-foot First Article lab
– A 3,000 square-foot repair depot.
Additionally, the facility is certified to ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001, for quality assurance and ISO 13485 for medical compliance. In addition, the new facility incorporates several features designed to reduce Avnet’s energy consumption, such as customized insulation and motion-sensor controlled lighting.

With the capacity to build and ship over 700,000 technology systems annually, the Avnet Global Solutions Center provides a breadth of services for Avnet’s customers, including hardware integration, software configuration, packaging and logistics, and systems maintenance.
