Clacton on Sea, UK, June 2008 -Pickering Interfaces is expanding its range
of PXI precision resistor modules with the introduction of two new models.
The 40-261 is a two channel resistor module offering excellent resolution and accuracy and is available in two resistance ranges. The resistor channels cover the range of 1.5 Ohm to 2.9 kOhm or 10Ohm to 36 kOhm with setting resolutions of less than 2 mOhm and 15 mOhm respectively.
Model 40-297 is a range of high density resistor simulators with a broader resistance range and higher channel count, but lower resolution than the 40-261. It is available in 3 standard configurations having resistance ranges of 1 Ohm to 230Ohm, 2 Ohms to 13.5 KOhms, and 3 Ohm to 1.5 MOhm with 18, 9 and 6 channels respectively. The 6 channel version has a setting resolution of 0.125 Ohm.
Both models have software interfaces based on simple resistance calls for each channel, allowing users to just request the resistance value required.
The modules include calibration data that enables the driver to select the nearest value of resistance available.
Both modules occupy just one 3U PXI slot and accurately reflect the behaviour of precise resistor values since they use switched resistors networks.
David Owen, Business Development Manager for Pickering Interfaces commented “These resistor modules are part of our expanding range of resistor simulation solutions. The availability of a wide range of solutions allows users to select the best cost and performance solution for their application, and the use of simple resistance calls for control greatly simplifies the users task in simulating resistors accurately regardless of which model is chosen. The new models complement the existing 40-260 and
40-262 PXI resistor simulators.”

More about Pickering
At Pickering, were more than just a switching manufacturer. We work closely with our customers to understand their applications as well as their overall requirements. This helps us create unique products and tools that are focused on their needs.
Innovative Aerospace PXI and LXI Solutions
PXI has proved very popular in many demanding military and commercial Aerospace test applications: PXI helps create smaller, faster test solutions and it makes the job of specifying and integrating test stations easier.
Pickering provides Avionics Bus interface cards, programmable power supplies, arbitrary waveform/function generators, 7½ digit DMMs, digitizers, signal conditioning, high current switching, sensor simulators, switching matrices and a wide range of PXI Chassis.
The LXI platform has allowed Pickering to address new applications that could not be easily addressed by other platforms. The benefit to our Aerospace customers is a test solution that is often smaller, at a lower cost, and exhibiting improved specifications.
When designing functional test applications, Aerospace companies like Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, BAE Systems, Smiths Industries, Goodrich, Rockwell Collins, Raytheon, Honeywell, Hamilton Sundstrand, Bombardier, and Sikorsky have implemented Pickering solutions all around the globe.
