CHICAGO, Illinois — AdvancedIO Systems Inc. announced the industry’s first configurable 10 Gigabit solution bridging parallel RapidIO® interconnect architecture and 10 Gigabit Ethernet at SUPERCOMM today: the V1010™ Switched Mezzanine Card (XMC) module. The V1010 module’s industry standard I/O can be used in existing systems, and is aimed at embedded systems providers serving defense, aerospace and telecom markets.

The V1010 module enables equipment such as EO/IR sensors, high resolution image sensors, and RADAR antenna arrays to connect to high performance embedded multicomputers using a well-established standard. Functionality from this equipment can be offloaded to the V1010 module to significantly increase overall system performance and allow system-level enhancements. Initial V1010 product development and verification has been done on a Mercury Ensemble AdvancedTCA system.

“Mercury is excited about the innovative contributions AdvancedIO is making to embedded computing,” said Mark Skalabrin, VP and General Manager of Mercury Computer Systems’ OEM Solutions Group. “Mercury sees the ability to efficiently bridge between RapidIO architecture and 10 Gigabit Ethernet as an enabling technology that will dramatically improve the performance of data-intensive embedded applications.”

“We are pleased to work closely with Mercury and look forward to being an important part of Mercury’s advanced embedded computing platforms,” commented Mohammad Darwish, President and CEO of AdvancedIO Systems Inc. Systems

AdvancedIO provides a range of software and hardware solutions, and offers consultation for Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) application development. AdvancedIO’s experienced FPGA design engineers can help customers design and optimize FPGA logic and interfaces, saving valuable time. In addition to processing packets at 10 Gigabits per second, AdvancedIO’s solutions can include complex algorithms such as up/down conversion, FFT, encryption/decryption and packet classification algorithms.

The V1010 module is part of a growing family of 10 Gigabit solutions that feature a variety of form factors, such as Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC), and other switched fabrics, such as Serial RapidIO and PCI Express®. The V1010 XMC module is in production and available for order today.
