ISD720: Cost-effective 1 Hp Drive with High-performance Servo Control

ISD720 is the new Technosoft intelligent servo drive developed for high power needs and cost-sensitive applications. Based on the MotionChip(TM) DSP technology, ISD720 embeds motion controller, drive and PLC functionality in the same open-frame unit (size: 136 x 84 x 26 mm). With convenient compact dimensions and 20 A continuous / 49.5 A peak current ratings, ISD720 combines high-level motion control functions with a cost-optimized design. The drive is a flexible solution, particularly adapted for distributed and coordinated control of brushless, DC or linear motors up to 720 W. It accepts incremental quadrature encoders and digital Halls as position feedbacks.

Most of the usual features of all Technosoft intelligent motion products are included here, too. ISD720 performs position, speed or torque control and works in single-axis, multi-axis or stand alone configurations. The drive setup, tuning and motion programming are simple with EasyMotion Studio and Technosoft Motion Language (TML). With ISD720, motion programming can be done from a CAN master, via PC / PLC using the appropriate motion library, or directly at drive level through its built-in motion controller.

Using the TML language, multiple operations can be executed with ISD720: setting of various motion modes (profiles, PVT, PT, electronic gearing or camming, etc), change of motion modes and/or parameters, execution of homing sequences or program flow control. At the same time, IDS720 can handle digital I/O and analogue input signals, execute arithmetic and logic operations and transfer data between axes. The drive is able to control other axes via motion commands. Moreover, ISD720 can send commands to a group of axes, or synchronize all the axes from a network.

A CANopen version of the ISD720, supporting DS-301 and DSP-402 profiles, is also available.

Cost-optimized design, intelligence and networking possibilities make the ISD720 drive an economical alternative for various motion applications that demand high servo performance control. This drive is a perfect solution for modern motion control applications, ideally suited for high precision control areas from medical to factory automation as well as for industrial projects that require high-power control.
