HOUSTON & OSLO, Norway — Nov. 9, 2004 – Transtech DSP, a VMETRO company, today announced an agreement that enables system OEMs to obtain integrated and tested VXS / VITA 41 systems that combine Transtech’s multiprocessor / FPGA products with Elma’s high-speed backplanes and enclosures. This blending of each firm’s customization capabilities, best practices and advanced technologies into viable solutions, addresses the needs of many OEMs, and will greatly accelerate the introduction of the VXS bus architecture into compute-intensive military, avionics and communications applications. In effect this agreement provides a method for OEM customers to better focus their resources on the development of core intellectual property, and competitive differentiation, without having to be concerned about the implementation details associated with using a new bus architecture. “VXS offers multi-Gigabit bandwidths without losing the capability of supporting legacy VME boards, and is a crucial next step in the development of VME. Elma is the first backplane provider to offer real VXS products and has shown continuous support in the development of both standard and customised variants,” commented Jeremy Banks, Product Marketing Manager, Transtech. “It makes sense for us to work with them.”
“Reducing risk for our customers is the key motivation behind this agreement,” said Shan Morgan, Sr. VP Sales, Elma Electronics US. “By working with complementary suppliers, we can help our customers implement next generation systems, and by using proven building blocks that have been tested to work together, we can save vital time to market while lowering risk.”
