GigMAC PMC Quad Port – Model 5264-RJ. The model 5264-RJ offers four ports of 10/100/1000 Base T Gigabit Ethernet over Copper and is fully IEEE 802.3 compliant. It has a 64-bit IEEE 1386 PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) form factor suitable for embedded enclosures and operates in 133/100/66 MHZ, 64/32-bit PCI-X mode. It is also backwards compatible with legacy PCI 32/33 and 64/66 PCI modes. It has four onboard fully shielded recessed RJ-45 connectors and connects directly to CAT5e twisted pair cabling. The Model 5264-RJ is also compatible with the Intel PRO/1000 quad port copper PCI-X card. It has quad bi-color multi-function programmable LED options for link and activity for a total of 15 programmable functions. The LEDS can be either optioned in hardware and/or software making it ideal for use with drivers from other vendors. It uses the latest in Gigabit Ethernet controller technology offering a high-level of integration with low power consumption — using ultra low power dual port integrated Intel NH82546GB MAC-PHY/Serdes PCI-X controllers and an onboard PR31154 PCI-X to PCI-X bridge. Power consumption is less than 6W total board power running all four ports in Gigabit mode.
The Intel PR31154 bridge used on the Model 5264-RJ provides many unique features including PCI/PCI-X compatibility, 5V tolerance, large 8-Kbyte dynamic buffers, flow-thru support, support for 9 to 24 concurrent transactions, customizable device ID, semi-transparency and a Multiple Transaction Timer, which is a new feature in PCI bridges. Traditional 64/66 PCI bridges have limited buffering on the order of a few hundred bytes, which when used with high-speed devices such as Gigabit Ethernet can cause over-runs and under-runs in the bridge when the primary and secondary busses are not running at same speed or bus bandwidth.
This product is available in both RoHS and non-RoHS models and offers excellent performance and value with simultaneous quad-port capability on a single PMC mezzanine card. It also provides optional support for link failover and aggregation features. It is targeted for OEMs, VARs and Systems Integrators for use in Military, Telecommunications, Aerospace and Industrial applications requiring multi-gigabit digital transfers including Broadcast, Audio, Video, VoIP, IP Security, QoS Deployment and Monitoring. This makes it an excellent candidate for use in systems including broadcast servers, next generation wireless base stations, test equipment, transportation systems and IFE.
“The Model 5264-RJ was the first of our network product line transitioning to offer our customers the choice between RoHS compliancy and the standard IPC leaded manufacturing process”, says Jerry Marcinko, President/CEO of DSS Networks, Inc. “It is an viable product for both current and next generation systems as well as technology insertion upgrades. It is also available in ruggedized models with both extended temperature and MIL-SPEC conformal coating options.”
This product is available now with an OEM Developers Kit including Linux and VxWorks drivers, library software, utilities and documentation.
