SANTA ANA, CA – May 11, 2010 – ITT Interconnect Solutions, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of connectors, interconnects, and cable assemblies, has developed a line of two-piece ultrasonic welded cover sets and 24-way connectors. The rugged CFast cover sets are comprised of a plastic frame molded around the cover and oriented in position with guide-posts, simplifying assembly. Once assembled, the covers are ultrasonically welded together with a continuous weld joint around the perimeter of the card.
“The compact flash connectors and cover sets were designed specifically to support CFast’s latest small form factor removable storage standard set forth by the Compact Flash Association (CFA),” said Keith Teichmann, director of marketing for ITT Interconnect Solutions. “The innovative design and packaging of the connectors and cover sets also results in the most rigid CFast products in the industry and allows OEMs to streamline their manufacturing processes to deliver cost-effective solutions in minimum production times.”
ITT’s CFast cover sets and 24-way connectors are available in either Type I or Type II packages. The surface mount connectors are rated at 1.5A per pin and designed to exhibit no discontinuity greater than 100ns. Total mating force is 28.8N maximum at 25mm/minute, and total unmating force is 3.7N minimum, 24.5N maximum at 25mm/minute. The connectors and cover sets are rated to 10,000 mating cycles. Operating temperature ranges from -55°C to +85°C.
Typical pricing for the CFast connectors and cover sets starts at $0.71 for the top and bottom covers and $1.37 for the connectors in quantities of 100K pieces. Lead time is from 4 to 6 weeks.
