Houston, TX – January 15, 2007 – Today VMETRO, Inc. in Houston TX introduced a solid state drive for 6U VME and CompactPCI systems, the VMDRIVE. Designed to meet demanding military and aerospace applications, the VMDRIVE deploys 80GB solid state storage in rugged conduction-cooled or commercial air-cooled environments. The VMDRIVE’s dual channel 2Gbps fibre channel interfaces store data up to 70 MegaBytes per second. The dual fibre channel ports allow the VMDRIVE to connect to Fibre Channel Storage Area Networks (FC SAN) for use in data recording applications.
Lockheed Martin will utilize the VMDRIVE in the Longbow™ system. The Longbow system is fielded on the U.S. Army’s Apache AH-64D attack helicopter.
Features:
• 40 or 80 GB Storage
• 70 MBytes/s bandwidth
• 6U VME or CompactPCI form factors
• Extended temperature air-cooled or rugged conduction-cooled build options
• Shock and Vibration Tested to MIL-STD810F for use in helicopters including gunfire
