Billerica, MA, September 14, 2010 – CSP Inc. (NASDAQ: CSPI) MultiComputer Division, a leading supplier of rugged embedded computer clusters, today announced a technology upgrade for its FastCluster product line. Radar, sonar, and surveillance signal processing applications will benefit from the superior processing density and high bandwidth provided by the new FastCluster Mobile Scalable Computing Platforms with Intel® Xeon MultiCore processors and InfiniBand QDR technology.
All FastCluster platforms adhere to industry standard form factors, employ scalable switch fabrics, and offer an open software stack. This approach eliminates dependencies between the hardware components and fabric, allowing customers to easily migrate between platforms or insert new technology without having to rewrite their application.
The FastCluster 3000 SERIES OpenVPX™ Platforms are specifically designed for deployment in harsh environments where performance and density are critical. CSPI’s rugged FastCluster 3000 SERIES OpenVPX™-compliant platforms integrate the most advanced high performance computing components including QDR Infiniband Host Channel Adapters, Intel® MultiCore dual socket processors, and Intel® QPI architecture. The platforms provide support for Red Hat Linux, WindRiver VxWorks SMP software stack, and MPI 2.0 Message Passing Interface.
“The FastCluster Scalable Computing platforms, with Intel® processors and InfiniBand, provide a solution for today with a clear upgrade path for addressing the future challenges of applications for military airborne, shipboard and UAV platforms” says Bernard Pelon, CSPI Director of Product Research.
Technology refresh is possible by simply inserting new OpenVPX™ processor, carrier, or fabric blades. From benign to harsh environments, FastCluster platforms provide the flexibility and upgradability required for long-term use in aerospace and defense environments.
The 3000 SERIES OpenVPX™ systems are designed to support air-cooled and spray-cool thermal management techniques and will be available for delivery Q1 2011.
