Sundance, a worldwide supplier and manufacturer of advanced digital signal processing (DSP) and reconfigurable computing platforms, today announced the availability of the new and powerful SMT498. This module is equipped with an in-system configuration, System ACE SC, which configures FPGAs on power-up. Its main features among others are:
• up to 256 MB of DDR2 SDRAM
• 5 Sundance High Speed Bus (SHB) or 4 SHB interfaces plus an FPDP port through a Spartan FPGA
• 14 Rocket IO (RSL) interfaces
• IEEE 1386 standard PrPMC form factor with conduction cooling
• 64bit / 66 MHz PCI interface
• Parallel processing software
support by Diamond from 3L, allowing easy use of both the FPGA and the PPCs embedded in it.
The SMT498 is designed to interface to other Sundance products including A/D, D/A, DSP, Imaging and Communications modules.
“This module is a powerful addition to our extensive family of Sundance products where it can serve as a pre-processing, post-processing or as a stand alone module in any type of signal processing and conditioning applications” explains Dr. Nory Nakhaee, President and CEO of Sundance DSP in Reno, Nevada.
The SMT498 is supported by standard software packages from Sundance and
3L. Full support from 3L Diamond is a major development in FPGA software
technology. Applications can now include multiple tasks targeting both
the embedded PPCs and the FPGA itself. Diamond will generate a single
application file containing all the PPC code and the bit stream for the FPGA; booting this file will automatically configure the FPGA, load the PPC, and start everything running.
“3L is responding to customer requests by providing full support for the SMT498 through our advanced FPGA and DSP interfaces. With the SMT498 package, customers finally have means and tools to implement their performance-demanding applications within a simple yet powerful and well-defined environment”, adds Dr. Peter Robertson, Managing Director of 3L.”
“The new SMT498 module builds on a strong track record of delivering reconfigurable computing platforms based on Xilinx DSP-based devices”, said Narinder Lall, Senior DSP Marketing Manager, Xilinx. “The module helps customers to leverage the platform capabilities of Xilinx FPGA-based reconfigurable DSPs and get to market faster.”
