SANTA CLARA, CA, September 24, 2007–Real-Time Innovations (RTI), The Real-Time Middleware Experts, today announced an agreement to provide Samsung Thales with RTI Data Distribution Service software and related services in support of the FFX-I naval combat system for the Republic of South Korea. RTI Data Distribution Service offers a comprehensive solution for distributing and managing real-time data across a distributed system, ensuring performance, real-time quality-of-service and scalability.
To replace existing frigate ships in operation, the FFX-I naval combat system includes the mission computer functions installed in the legacy FFK combat systems. The FFX-I combat system’s automated functions include target detection, tracking, threat assessment and weapon control for efficient combat execution, allowing operation with a minimum of personnel.
The government procurement agency and design authority (DA) for the FFX-I combat system is the Agency for Defense Development (ADD). Samsung Thales was awarded the prime contract for the FFX-I system integration/command and fire-control system (SI/CFCS)—the core component of the FFX-I combat system—and has contracted with RTI for a real-time data communications solution that encompasses the sensors, instruments and computers controlling the ship’s weapon system.
RTI professional services will help to ensure that performance goals for the Samsung Thales project are met.
