Military.com’s Editor and Managing Editor left on Sunday for a three week long trip to Afghanistan to cover the war and profile service members on the front line.
The excursion will take Ward Carroll, Editor and Christian Lowe, Managing Editor, throughout the war zone and will provide Military.com’s readers real time information about conflicts, technology, and the challenges service members are facing on deployment.
“I’m thrilled to be going on this trip. I went on many deployments as a naval aviator in my career but I’m truly humbled to be making this trip representing Military.com. It’s our opportunity to re-connect with the people making the military news on a daily basis,” said Carroll.
Military.com President, T. McCreary added, “Ward and Christian have a great amount of combined time in war zones and have proven time and again to be superb front line reporters. I look forward to reading their stories and know they will continue our Military.com outreach to service members in the field.”
Carroll and Lowe will be updating readers with news stories, through the Kit Up! blog and Defense Tech blog as well as through the Military.com Facebook and Twitter accounts. When possible they will also be posting podcasts of their journey and are available for comment or coverage to other media outlets during their trip.
