FREMONT, California – March 24, 2009 – Themis Computer announces its new XV1 high-performance, VMEbus single board computer (SBC), designed to meet the needs of customers who require quad-core performance for their demanding applications. The Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor utilizing Intel’s new 45-nm process brings workstation and server performance to the VME market. These new Xeon processors offer breakthrough performance, energy efficiency, and extended lifecycle support. Themis’ new Intel Quad Core processor-based boards are ideal for compute-intensive embedded, storage and communications applications as well as a wide range of commercial and military applications.

Themis’ XV1 is based on the low power, Quad-Core Xeon L5408 processor clocked at 2.13 GHz, and Intel’s 5100 chipset used in high performance Xeon servers. The 5100 chipset memory controller supports ECC to maintain the highest system integrity, and provides the bandwidth necessary to support high performance I/O. XV1 memory is expandable to 8 GBytes of DDRII memory.

“Themis’ XV1, utilizing Intel’s new Quad-Core technology, brings server class performance to this power sensitive segment of the x86 VMEbus market,” said William Kehret, president of Themis Computer. “The XV1 differentiates itself from other market entries, with up to 8 GB of ECC memory, and a wide variety of I/O memory and storage configurations,” Mr. Kehret added.

The XV1 base configuration includes; two gigabytes of DDR II memory, three Gigabit Ethernet ports, two SATA II ports, four USB 2.0 ports and two XMC/PMC slots. An onboard ATI ES1000 video controller is provided with either front or rear panel VGA access. Storage can be provided through the use of an onboard CompactFlash or with an optional on-board 2.5 inch SATA drive. The board includes VITA 41 dual-Gigabit Ethernet to support the modern highly networked environments.

Configuration options for the XV1 include:

• Intel 5408 Quad Core Xeon processor running at 2.13 GHz

• Intel 5100 MCH San Clemente chipset, also Penryn compatible

• 2 GB DDRII memory standard, up to 8 GB DDRII ECC memory maximum

• Compact flash type and capacity range – Type I or II supported (CF write-protection available)

• Three (3) Gigabit Ethernet ports standard with expansion for up to seven ports

• Optional 2.5 inch SATA drive

• Expansion to a XMC/PMC carrier card

• VME bridge: Tundra Tsi-148

• Graphics chip type – ATI ES1000

• Solaris™ 10, Linux®, and Windows® OS support

• Environmental:

Temperature Range: -5 to +55°C (operating) -40 to 95°C (non-operating)

The XV-1 has extensive I/O. The base configuration includes three Gigabit Ethernet ports, three SATA ports, and four USB 2.0 ports. Two expansion sites provide a wide variety of configurations:

Expansion Site 1:

• SoDIMM memory expansion up to 8G or

• XMC/PMC slot or

• 2.5 inch SATA Hard Drive or

• 2-GbE ports to front panel, 10-GbE ports – contact factory

Expansion Site 2:

• XMC/PMC Slot or

• Connection to PMC/XMC carrier card – enables the use of up to three additional PMC/XMC cards

• 2-Gbe ports to front panel, 10-GbE ports – contact factory

The XV-1 and its two-slot XMC expansion board are fully RoHS compliant.

These configuration options enable the XV1 to bring Quad Core server performance to a 6U VME form factor.
