Madison, WI. July 24, 2007 — Emerson Network Power’s (NYSE: EMR) Embedded Computing business today announced the availability of MontaVista® Linux® Carrier Grade Edition (CGE) version 4.0 for Emerson’s Katana®Qp AdvancedTCA® blades and PmPPC7448 ProcessorPMC modules. MontaVista has incorporated support for the KatanaQp blades and PmPPC7448 modules as part of its standard CGE product. Emerson’s dedicated MontaVista team will provide support for the KatanaQp and PmPPC7448, including early access to the latest Carrier Grade Edition releases, bug fixes, security patches, upgrades, benchmarking and optimization.

“Linux is emerging as the dominant platform for high-availability network infrastructure products, and we are committed to offering equipment makers the finest carrier grade Linux solutions,” said Jeff Durst, program director for Emerson’s new Embedded Computing business. “Consistent with that commitment, we have created a dedicated MontaVista support team charged with giving our customers early access to the latest MontaVista Carrier Grade Edition releases, optimized and preconfigured for our telecom blades and systems. Our investment in that team is already paying dividends, as evidenced by the availability of MontaVista Linux CGE version 4.0 for our ATCA blades and PrPMC modules.”

“MontaVista Linux CGE running on Emerson’s blades and modules gives NEPs a flexible, open, and proven foundation for building and deploying reliable, feature-rich, carrier-class systems,” said Dan Cauchy, director of marketing, Carrier and Mobile Products, MontaVista Software, Inc. “We will continue to work closely with Emerson to ensure that our joint customers enjoy the finest support and have timely access to the highest quality, most advanced Linux technology.”

MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition is a field-hardened Linux distribution widely deployed in the networks of the world’s leading carriers. MontaVista Linux CGE version 4.0 integrates the latest Linux 2.6 kernel, which features advanced hard real-time capabilities, unique high-availability services, built-in AdvancedTCA hardware support, and the latest Eclipse-based integrated development platform. MontaVista Linux CGE complies with both the Service Availability Forum (SA Forum) Application Interface Specifications for high availability services and the Linux Foundation’s Carrier Grade Linux specifications.

The KatanaQp is a high-performance telecom blade for open architecture systems utilizing AdvancedTCA chassis. The KatanaQp features a pair of Freescale™ MPC7448 processors built on Power Architecture™ technology, four PTMC expansion sites, redundant IPMI-based system management interfaces, and a high-speed PICMG 3.1-compliant ATCA interface with ten-gigabit Ethernet channels. Key applications include WAN access, SS7/SIGTRAN signaling, media gateways, traffic processing, wireless base stations and softswitches.

The PmPPC7448 is a ProcessorPMC module that makes it easy for telecom OEMs to add high-availability processing power to telecom systems equipped with PMC expansion sites. Based on Freescale’s MPC7448 processor, the PmPPC7448 makes an ideal control plane processor for optical and wireless infrastructure. It’s also ideal for augmenting packet processing and routing performance in voice gateways and softswitches, and for enhancing protocol processing performance in SS7 and SIGTRAN signaling control points and gateways.
