A single-wide 32-bit PMC module provides up to 32 channels of high-speed 2µS 16-bit analog outputs with individually programmable range. The board architecture uses a very large buffer memory and is optimized for high-speed DMA transfers, allowing extremely high transfer rates with little processor load, while making the programming simple and logical.
The PMC-SoftDac-32F from Alphi Technology is an optimum solution for COTS aerospace/defense, industrial or transportation applications.
Flexible triggering schemes allow synchronizing several boards, use external triggers, or internal timers. All the channels are double-buffered and normally programmed for synchronous updates. The conversion time is typically 2µS.
The variety of output voltage ranges 0V to 5V, 0V to 10V, ±5V, ±10V, ±2.5V,–2.5V to 7.5V is individually selectable on a per channel base, and within a channel data can be changed on the fly, within the data stream. The PMC-SoftDac-32F also features 4 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs to use with outside buffer controls.
The sample FIFO contains 1 million samples and can be filled up using DMA. The FIFO is dynamically allocated to the various outputs and can work in either circular mode where the same data is recycled to produce waveforms without processor intervention, or it can work in open-mode where the large FIFO and fast DMA will provide superior performances even in a non real-time OS environment.
Each PMC-SoftDac-32F is factory calibrated with information stored on an on-board EEPROM. It also features an on-board 16-bit A/D converter that allows real-time feedback of any of the output to allow self-test and calibration adjustments.
Alphi Technology provides driver software for a variety of operating systems including Windows 2000, 2003 server, XP, Vista, 7, as well as a number of LINUX flavors, VxWorks, QNX, and LabView. Other operating systems can be available on request.
