Vector Software, the leading provider of dynamic software test tools for mission and safety critical embedded systems, announced today Lockheed Martin Corporation has chosen the VectorCAST platform for integrating and testing their C-130J Super Hercules Special Mission Processor software.

Lockheed Martin’s C-130J Super Hercules is the world’s most advanced tactical airlifter. Designed specifically as a multi-role, multi-mission aircraft, the C-130J Super Hercules is the only airlifter with the range and flexibility for emerging theaters and evolving concepts of operation.

Lockheed Martin selected VectorCAST following an extensive evaluation process. Vector Software’s VectorCAST solution was proven to integrate seamlessly with Lockheed Martin’s existing development environment. VectorCAST’s ability to support mixed C++ and Ada languages, interface to IBM® Rational® DOORS®, and support for DO-178B Level A certification were key aspects to Lockheed Martin’s decision.

“We carefully evaluated a number of tools and we were very impressed with the level of automation provided by the VectorCAST solution”, said Steven Lincoln, C-130 Software Development Manager of LM Aeronautics. “Using VectorCAST, we expect to experience improvements to our overall software development process productivity.”

The VectorCAST platform has been implemented across hundreds of projects in multiple vertical industries, such as avionics, defense, automotive, medical devices, high speed rail, and industrial controls.

“Vector Software has maintained a long-term relationship with Lockheed Martin and the C130 program. Their C-130J Super Hercules development team started using VectorCAST back in 1994”, said William McCaffrey, Chief Operating Officer at Vector Software. “We are pleased to continue to support their development efforts.”
