ESC SILICON VALLEY, San Jose, California (April 28, 2011) – The DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of human machine interface (HMI) development tools for high reliability embedded computing devices, will be showcasing their new “VIBE” Visual Interface Bundle for Embedded Systems on Lockheed Martin’s new “Smart Brick” processor at ESC Silicon Valley in San Jose, May 2‐5. VIBE is an “out of the box” integrated graphics solution for the rapid development and deployment of visual interfaces for safety critical and general purpose computing systems. This multi‐vendor graphics solution includes DiSTI’s GL Studio Embedded HMI development toolset, safety‐critical 2D/3D OpenGL graphics libraries from ALT Software, and support for a variety of embedded and safety‐critical real‐time operating systems including Green Hills INTEGRITY‐178B and Wind River VxWorks 653. All components of the VIBE platform are DO‐178B certifiable up to Level A, the highest level of safety‐critical certification mandated by the FAA, EUROCAE and other aviation regulatory agencies worldwide, making VIBE an ideal solution for the development of avionics display applications. ALT and DiSTI’s products have been designed specifically for use in safety critical environments and have been deployed in a wide range of embedded applications worldwide.
The VIBE product demonstration will be of an Unmanned Arial Vehicle (UAV) HMI interface created with DiSTI GL Studio and will be on display in the AMD booth at ESC. The Lockheed Martin Smart Brick processor being used is comprised of a Freescale Power PC 7448 CPU with an AMD ATI Radeon E4690 graphics processor enabled by ALT Software’s embedded OpenGL graphics libraries.
“The VIBE system is a true out of the box solution that represents an evolution in embedded ecosystem partner collaboration,” said Dan Joncas, Vice‐President of Sales at ALT Software. “Each software partner contributed their safety critical solutions to this project with the shared goal of simplifying the design and development process for manufacturers of high reliability systems. The Smart Brick product
demonstration features a complete pre‐integrated software solution for the avionics display system manufacturer, which will significantly reduce the development costs and time to market for our customers.”
“We collaborate with our industry leading partners to provide high reliability software solutions that meet our customers’ needs,” said Joe Swinski, CEO of DiSTI. “Our integration of the VIBE system on the Smart Brick addresses the increasing demand for high fidelity COTS embedded avionics display system software with comprehensive DO‐178B certification support, ready for deployment in next‐generation avionics hardware platforms.”
