JumpCert-178b/510(k) Support at HighRely’s Cert Center

HighRely Incorporated and Polyspace Technologies have expanded their ongoing partnership to provide the world’s first fully self-contained software development/certification solution. Named “JumpCert”, HighRely and Polyspace’s combined package provides all aerospace and medical device software developers with best-in-class tools and services to fully deploy critical software solutions requiring DO-178B and FDA certification.

JumpCert comes in two flavors: JumpCert-178B and JumpCert-510(k). JumpCert-178B provides avionics software developers with the tools/services they need to jumpstart their software to ensure RTCA/DO-178B compliance (DO-178B is the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) required standard for all avionics software). JumpCert-178B consists of DO178B training, DO-178B checklists, DO-178B gap analysis, DO-178B project planning, expedited schedule, cost-reduction, and static/dynamic software code analysis, all of which are optimized to minimize overall DO-178B schedule and cost. Polyspace’s inclusion provides for exhaustive reporting on the software code including runtime errors, compliance with ISO and MISRA-C standards, and software reliability metrics. Polyspace also provides mathematical analysis of the avionics code dynamics and exhaustive analysis of all combinations of possible variable values. Says Mr. Ray Madjidi, VP and co-founder of HighRely, “Polyspace’s inclusion in JumpCert ensures that avionics software defects are detected at the earliest possible developmental stage, actually before the software is tested, which saves 30-40% on the DO-178B schedule and cost.” Adds Mr. Chris Hote, Polyspace President “The Polyspace/HighRely JumpCert product is exciting news: developers have been asking for more turnkey solutions and expedited schedule with improved quality. Combined with HighRely’s DO-178B services, Polyspace’s hundreds of success stories are now integrated into a DO-178B solution. All avionics products should use JumpCert with Polyspace”.

Added Mr. Charles Soderstrom, registered FAA Designated Engineering Representative (Software & Systems DER): “Avionics software is complex and DO-178B compliance is a challenge, especially with regard to cost and schedule impact. It’s wonderful to see real-world tools such as Polyspace being integrated and applied to jump-start avionics software development and improve DO-178B certification aspects via HighRely’s JumpCert.

Also, for developers of medical solutions, Polyspace and HighRely are deploying “JumpCert-510(k)”, which provides a similar package targeted to FDA compliant medical device producers. This package has been successfully deployed and demonstrated in 2006 on actual medical devices with impressive results; these devices will be coming to market in the near future and benefit from JumpCert-510(k)’s jump-start via Polyspace and HighRely.
