FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz., February 23, 2005 – OpenSystems Publishing, LLC, today announced the addition of two new editorial directors: Jerry Gipper and Don Dingee, effective immediately. These industry experts will be working with OpenSystems Publishing as editorial directors for Embedded Computing Design magazine and plan upcoming catalogs for industrial and PCI Express segments.
OpenSystems’ continuing expansion of their editorial team reinforces their commitment to become the leader in both print and online embedded publications.
“Both Jerry’s and Don’s technology and marketing experience span VMEbus, PMC, CompactPCI, AdvancedTCA, and various embedded motherboard technologies. Their more than 50 years combined experience will enhance OpenSystems’ editorial direction,” said Rosemary Kristoff, vice president of editorial, OpenSystems Publishing. “Additionally, their well-established presence among industry thought leaders will help continue to keep OpenSystems’ readers up to date on today’s embedded ideas and the trends most important to their business.”
Jerry Gipper began his career in the embedded computing industry in 1981. He has held a variety of positions in systems engineering, sales, product marketing, business development, and strategic planning. During his career at Motorola, he had the leadership product marketing role in the worldwide rollout of more than 25 major and very successful product lines, several of which received industry recognition. He has written numerous articles and papers for the industry, spoken at various conferences, and has participated in an executive role with several key industry related associations, including the VMEbus International Trade Association (VITA), PCI Industrial Computers Manufacturers Group (PICMG), the Service Availability Forum (SAF), and the Embedded Linux Consortium. Additionally, he is the founder of Embedify LLC, a marketing services firm focusing on product marketing for embedded computing businesses that brings experience, industry knowledge and contacts needed for companies planning and executing embedded computing products and services. Embedify is based in Mesa, Arizona, and is establishing its web presence at www.embedify.com. Jerry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University and a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from San Jose State University.
Don Dingee has more than 23 years experience in marketing, selling and designing embedded computing products and is the co-founder of Embedify LLC. Don’s product marketing experience includes 11 new embedded computing product launches, and he co-authored the EBX specification in 1997. He has industry-specific experience in defense/aerospace, industrial automation and printing, and has continuously developed business alliances with leading hardware, software and distribution companies worldwide. Before co-founding Embedify, Don’s career featured leadership positions in marketing and sales at the Motorola Computer Group, and design and new business acquisition roles at General Dynamics. Don holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
