San Diego, CA- September 30, 2008 – Providing the latest solution in its line of robust support offerings for military and aerospace embedded applications developers, Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing, a leading designer and manufacturer of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) VME, VPX, and CompactPCI products for the aerospace and defense market, and LynuxWorks, Inc., a world leader in the embedded software market, have announced support for LynuxWorks LynxOS® SE 5.0 on Curtiss-Wrights SVME/DMV 1901 Intel® Core2™Duo-based 6U VME single board computer (SBC). The growing alliance between LynuxWorks and Curtiss-Wright illustrates both companies commitment to the military and aerospace industries and the developers that drive those industries. The alliance further enables the companies to provide advanced and reliable software for mission critical applications.

The LynxOS SE 5.0 fully supported real-time operating system (RTOS) board support package (BSP) is available on Curtiss-Wright’s rugged, conduction-cooled SVME/DMV 1901 Single SBC. The combined hardware/software solution provides a secure, POSIX-conformant and Linux-binary compatible operating system for use with Curtiss-Wright’s hardware platform. Developers will benefit from lower costs, reduced time to market and an industry-leading foundation for sophisticated real-time systems as a result of the alliance.

The LynxOS SE 5.0 BSP is designed to meet the most stringent requirements for secure real-time mission-critical applications and allows defense developers to quickly benefit from an out-of-the-box hardware/software solution that is optimized for the harshest environments and provides a single, powerful solution for real-time systems that cant afford downtime. The operating system provides open APIs, Linux ABI compatibility, full POSIX conformance, medium assurance security per the single level operating system protection profile, and an advanced set of networking features for uncompromised performance. LynxOS SE 5.0 also offers increased RAM that enables developers to take full advantage of current hardware designs. The system also features a fully integrated, updated GNU tool chain and an enhanced Linux ABI to provide a streamlined development and execution environment.

Curtiss-Wrights SVME/DMV-1901 SBC supports one Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor. With a Core 2 Duo processor the SVME-1901 acts as a dual CPU 6U VME64x air-cooled board built to meet the diverse needs of the evolving embedded community. With the addition of a SCSI, SATA, or USB hard drive, the SVME-1901 becomes a full-featured computing platform. The SVME/DMV-1901 supports extensive I/O from the front panel, including video graphics and SCSI. Optional dual video displays are supported with rear I/O configurations. The SVME/DMV-1901 is designed for embedded systems requiring optimal performance per watt.
