Formerly known as the Bus and Board Conference, this year was the first year of VITA’s new Embedded Tech Trends (ETT 2012), in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Suppliers of board and system level solutions networked with fellow industry leaders, and included industry discussions about the upcoming standards and manufacturing lines.

GDCA’s VP of Sales and Marketing Steve Roldan commented, “It was great to see so much cross-industry collaboration. Everyone really came together to talk about the future of VITA Technology. Manufacturers met industry media to discuss technologies, trends, and products. Fellow thought leaders got to dialogue with design architects and engineers about realities of supporting current critical embedded systems.”

The focus of ETT 2012 was VITA technology applications and the “fruits of the spec-developer’s labor.” Industry leaders presented reference designs and existing solutions and best practices for customers that highlighted the successes in everything from new VPX designs to small form factor VITA 59 & 74 products.

Size, weight, power and cost continue to drive design and companies participating in ETT 2012 demonstrated a clear focus on these requirements. Emerging small form-factor boards continue to grow in popularity and acceptance as easier to cool and replace, and are less expensive.

Manufacturers continue to count on a 7-year support life of embedded components to develop new products and release them to waiting customers. Due to the heavy investments in existing critical applications, product longevity also featured in discussion. During industry panel discussions, members agreed that VME and VPX would continue for the next 5 years and beyond.

GDCA’s long history and experience with VME products continues to be a valuable resource for partners and customers concerned about customer loyalty, long-term solutions, and obsolescence management. Visit us at www.gdca.com to learn more.
