Thales finalizes sale of Thales Computers to Kontron Modular Computers GmbH

Neuilly-sur-Seine – March 7, 2008 – Following approval by employee representatives and the relevant French authorities, Thales has finalised the sale of its Toulon-based subsidiary Thales Computers SA to the Kontron Group, Germany.

Thales Computers SA employs around 100 people and has revenues in excess of €20 million. The company specialises in the design and manufacture of standardised electronic computer boards as part of embedded systems for professional markets.

Kontron Group is a major European and global player in embedded computing solutions. The company employs more than 2,500 people around the world, has revenues in excess of €400 million and achieved internal growth of 30% in 2006.

As part of the Kontron Group, the Toulon centre will become the global centre of excellence and engineering in Power PC processors, VME and related standards and board ruggedization. The alliance will also open up new opportunities for the company, thanks to the quality and scale of Kontrons technological and commercial networks.

This operation will further strengthen the European industrial fabric of specialist high-tech SMEs while consolidating the future of this France-based company in its new environment.
