The companies tighten integration of EdenTree Lab Manager and
Curtiss-Wright optical switches
Leesburg, VA December 13, 2006 — Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing, a leading manufacturer of optical switching solutions, and EdenTree Technologies, innovator of software solutions for lab management and test automation, today announced an expansion of their partnership to provide integrated solutions for network lab automation.
EdenTree’s Lab Manager software, the Lab Operating System™ and leading software platform for managing, scheduling, configuring, and tracking lab resources, provides a graphical user interface (GUI) and API for controlling Curtiss-Wright’s GLX4000 series, its fourth-generation non-blocking, multi-protocol physical layer switches. The products have been integrated since early 2005.
Today’s announcement reaffirms the companies’ mutual commitment to maintaining and expanding integration of their respective products, providing their common customers in the network equipment and storage area networking (SAN) industries with easier and better access to the connectivity management features they require for testing current and future technologies.
Lab Manager’s drag-and-drop GUI allows test engineers, developers, customer support personnel, and other lab users to design and schedule test topologies consisting of devices that are interconnected by GLX4000 switches. The solution transparently and dynamically builds the topologies, eliminating manual recabling and providing automated and remote control of test topologies, easier sharing of equipment, and a dramatic increase in test velocity.
Jay Oyakawa, president and CEO of EdenTree Technologies stated, “One of the capabilities built into our recently re-architected Lab Manager 5.0 is a very tight integration with Curtiss-Wright’s GLX4000, providing our customers with powerful new features for transparently provisioning and controlling the switching infrastructure while granting easy access to the GLX4000’s best-in-class features.”
The GLX4000 series is a non-blocking, multi-protocol physical layer switch that allows any input to connect to any output. The GLX4000 can support up to 288 ports and up to 2.5 Tb/s in switching capacity. The company offers SFP- and XFP-based interface cards for flexibility and support of protocols up to 10 Gb/s, and fixed-interface cards supporting digital signals up to 4.25 Gb/s including Firewire (IEEE 1394B).
Gorky Chin, vice president and general manager of Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing’s Data Communications group stated. “EdenTree’s Lab Manager is an ideal match for our GLX4000 switches. Together, they combine advanced lab management software and the industry’s highest port density physical layer switch, to provide the network test engineer with unmatched reliability and signal integrity. Lab Manager and GLX4000 deliver faster, lower cost, repeatable tests enabling customers to get their networking solutions to market faster.”
Existing customers of the combined Curtiss-Wright and EdenTree solution include Hitachi Data Systems, QLogic Corp, and McData.
