VMETRO has developed and shipped a data recording and playback system utilizing AES-256 data encryption. This recording system is based on VMETRO’s Vortex Open Data Recording platform. For secure applications, AES-256 encryption provides an alternative to securely wiping classified data because the data is encrypted during storage to prevent unauthorized use. VMETRO data recording systems with encryption expand the deployed system capabilities by reducing the complexity of data security. Applications for the AES-256 encryption recording system include Electronic Warfare and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance applications as well as electronic intelligence.
This Vortex data recording solution uses a common platform to acquire data over an I/O PMC and handles it in one of three ways: 1) encrypt the data and record it to JBOD or RAID storage devices, 2) pass the data through to a workstation and 3) playback the encrypted data from storage to a workstation with AES-256 decryption. An easy-to-use web browser GUI enables operators to have a single interface for all functions. The software is also available in source code for customized applications.
“The Vortex recorder with AES encryption virtually eliminates the headaches associated with special handling of the recording media and is far more practical than last ditch efforts to purge the data moments before a compromise situation occurs.” says Tom Bohman, Vice President of Embedded Systems at VMETRO, Inc.
