These new, highly efficient processors─at just 79 watts─offer a superior level of performance-per-watt capabilities while continuing to deliver the advantages of AMD’s Direct Connect Architecture for optimal application performance and processing efficiency, helping to meet the industry’s rising demand for low power, cost-saving processor technology. The processor features AMD’s industry-leading power management capabilities, offering businesses a variety of technologies that can directly impact the bottom line while helping to expand the performance of computers.

The 45nm Quad-Core AMD Opteron HE processor, with speeds ranging from 2.1 to 2.3 GHz, is designed to address a vast segment of the business computing market that must maximize performance during peak hours while managing the energy costs during idle and low-utilization hours. Server platforms based on these new AMD Opteron HE processors can offer up to 20% lower idle power compared to similarly configured competing systems, helping cut energy costs without compromising any of the processor features of the standard power options.

Additional features of the 45nm Quad Core Opteron™ HE processors include:

• Independent Dynamic Core Technology

• Dual Dynamic Power Management™ (DDPM)

• AMD CoolCore™ technology

• Enhanced AMD PowerNow!™ technology

• AMD Virtualization™ (AMD-V™) technology with Rapid Virtualization Indexing
