Dynatem introduces a Rugged, Low-Power Core-Duo based 6U CompactPCI Single Board Computer

Dynatem is now shipping the Intel Core2 Duo based CPD CompactPCI/PICMG 2.16 Single Board Computer (SBC). The CPD is a 6U single-slot CompactPCI compatible platform based on the Intel® low-power Core2 Duo processor. The CPD takes advantage of the L7400 Core2 Duos low power consumption as a rugged SBC. Newer versions supporting the T7400 2.16 GHz Core2 Duo will also be offered.

Shock and vibration immunity were major goals in the CPD design. All major components including processor, chipset and memory are BGA based. The only socketed devices on board are the optional CompactFlash and optional battery, both of which are securely fastened when required.

The CPD is available as a conduction-cooled module with wedge locks and a full-board heat sink for high shock/vibration environments and temperature extremes. The conduction-cooled version is the CRD. Extended temperature and versions with conformal coating are available.

The CPD comes installed with 2 GB or 4 GB DDR2-400 memory, supporting ECC. Memory is BGA for the best shock/vibration spec.

The E7520 Memory Controller Hub (MCH) and 6300ESB I/O Controller Hub (ICH) chips support PCIe and PCI-X expansion, respectively.

Four on-board Gb Ethernet ports are controlled by two PCIexpress based 82571EB dual 10/100/1000BaseTX controllers. Two Ethernet ports are accessible from the front panel and two PICMG 2.16 compliant ports are routed to the backplane.

Graphics is provided from a Silicon Motion SM712 GPU. SVGA is routed to J5.

Front panel I/O interfaces include two Gb Ethernet ports, two USB 2.0 ports and

front panel I/O for both PMC sites.

Two SATA ports, SVGA video, two Gb Ethernet ports, four COM ports, an IDE interface, PS/2 mouse & keyboard, and two more USB 2.0 ports are routed to the backplane. Conventional PC I/O is accessible with industry-standard connectors on the optional XPDRIO Rear Transition Module..

An on-board CompactFlash site supports up to 32 GB non-volatile memory which permits single-slot booting.

The two on-board PMC mezzanine card interfaces are accessed through the 6300ESBs 64-bit PCI-X bus. One of the two PMC sites also accommodates an XMC module supported by x8 PCIe.

Dynatem offers software support for such popular operating systems as LynxOS, VxWorks, Windows NT, Windows XP, Linux, QNX, and Solaris. Support for other operating systems is available upon request. PXE is available for diskless booting and fully volatile operation – desirable in secure systems.

Pricing for the CPD starts at $4,158 in single quantity. Customized versions can be quoted upon request. Special extended temperature versions and conformal coated versions can be quoted. The conduction-cooled CRD will be shipping in September 2008.

Dynatem manufactures and integrates systems based on 6U and 3U VMEbus and CompactPCI and CompactPCI Express modules. Custom stand-alone embedded designs are also provided. Dynatem is located at 23263 Madero, Suite C, Mission Viejo, CA 92691.
