Chelmsford, MA – October 26, 2009 – TEK Microsystems, Inc. announced it has shipped the Atlas-V5 VXS digitizer to Rockwell Collins in Richardson, TX. Rockwell Collins is enhancing its existing ELINT systems with additional signal processing capabilities to analyze and compare up to eight synchronized digitizer channels, each simultaneously providing up to 500 MHz of bandwidth. The program is in the initial R&D phase. Once successful the deployment will result in additional orders of 100’s of units.

Tekmicro’s Atlas-V5 VXS boards were selected for the program because it is the first product to support 1 GSPS ADC devices with 12 bits of resolution. The board supports eight channels, the highest density of channels per card currently available. Each channel has an input bandwidth of 1.5 GHz, supporting operation up to the third Nyquist band, and uses a single ADC without interleaving. Combined with three Xilinx Virtex 5 FPGAs the single 6U VME / VXS slot Atlas-V5 enables unprecedented performance for multi-channel applications such as ELINT, beamforming, Radar, SIGINT, COMINT and wireless communications.

“The Atlas-V5 is one of many members of our modular QuiXilica-V5 family of products,” comments Paul Martino vice president of sales and marketing at Tekmicro. “Atlas-V5 customers, like Rockwell Collins, can take advantage of a comprehensive set of existing hardware, firmware and software infrastructure – common across all of our QuiXilica-V5 products – coupled with the highest sample rate 12-bit ADCs on the market today. Our ability to implement the newly announced ADS5400 from Texas Instruments gave our engineering team a part with nearly 2x the speed of competitive offerings. The culmination of these advanced technologies gives Atlas-V5 a competitive edge in signal processing solutions.”

In addition to Atlas-V5, Tekmicro offers the industry’s broadest range of Xilinx Virtex-5 based streaming I/O and FPGA processing solutions for both analog and digital I/O available today. Like all of the QuiXilica-V5 products, the Atlas-V5 is available for a wide range of operating environments, including rugged air and conduction cooled for deployed applications.
