Plantation, FL, October 6, 2008 — Today Precision Analog Systems announced the PAS 9510/MON, a remote monitoring module which detects a systems temperature and fan and power supply status, thus preventing malfunction and overheating in critical systems. Designed to operate in harsh environments, the module performs background health checks on all inputs. Sixteen open collector fan status lines and four thermistor temperature sensors monitor the target system. All of the circuitry is contained in a small anodized aluminum enclosure that can be mounted close to the points being monitored. A three-position red, yellow and green LED displays the modules status.

Each temperature measurement channel conditions the thermistor input and provides a linearized output reading in degrees C. Temperature measurement range is -40 to +85 degrees C and the operating range is -20 to +65 degrees C.

Sixteen digital inputs monitor fan and power supply status. Each input provides pull-up resistors, over-voltage protection, low-pass filtering and built in test circuitry.

The onboard processor performs a monitor module health check as a background operation. These tests include overdrive of digital inputs, ADC zero and mid-scale accuracy, power supply voltages within range and temperature within range. If the module returns bad health status, a detailed report helps to identify the malfunctioning section.

This system is ideal for telephony, aerospace, defense, homeland security, test and instrumentation, and industrial applications. A current application uses this device to monitor the equipment cabinet environment in a military flight line test system.

Precision Analog president Larry Arbuckle says, “The module is unique in that it provides thermistor linearization, fan status and performs background health checks on all inputs. It is designed to operate in harsh environments and can be mounted near the points being monitored.”

As with other Precision Analog embedded computer boards, the PAS 9510/MON is designed for long-term availability, and can be customized for your application.

The PAS 9510/MON is currently available and is priced at $995 in single-unit quantities. For additional information contact Precision Analog Systems at (954) 587-0668, [email protected] or visit the on-line catalog at www.precisionanalog.com.
