Concurrent Technologies announces the release of the latest addition to their range of development systems. The SY VPX/507 is a free-standing, centrally switched, 7-slot 3U VPX™ development system designed to aid in bench development of applications where the computation power of multiple SBCs are required. To enable rapid development the SY VPX/507 comes pre-installed with two dual core processor SBCs (supporting the 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processor) with on-board flash, associated rear-transition modules and a fabric switch board. An additional 4 slots are available for system expansion. Typical applications include industrial control, transport, aerospace, security and defense applications.

The SY VPX/507 is based on an EMC enclosure, incorporating an integrated power supply and cooling fans, providing the user with a total of seven slots: one slot is reserved for the fabric switch; one slot is reserved for the system controller SBC; the remaining five slots can be populated with SBC’s or peripheral cards. The backplane is compliant with the OpenVPX™ BKP3-CEN07-15.2.3.n profile, interconnecting each of the six slots with the fabric switch via a PCI Express® (PCIe) fat pipe on the data plane and a 1000 Base-BX (SerDes) link on the control plane.

The pre-installed boards supplied by Concurrent Technologies are compatible with the OpenVPX™ (VITA 65) specification and are fitted as follows:

System Controller Slot: TR 803/592 – 2.2 GHz 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2655LE SBC with 8Gbytes Flash Module and RTM

Peripheral Slot: TR 803/592 – 2.2 GHz 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2655LE SBC with 8Gbytes Flash Module and RTM

Fabric Switch Slot: FR 331/506 – VPX™ Fabric Switch Board providing switching for six x4 PCIe data plane ports and six 1000 Base-BX (SerDes) control plane ports

Concurrent Technologies provides a range of additional 3U VPX™ modules to further enable customization of the SY VPX/507 development system – including SBCs, Fabric Switches, Mass Storage solutions and Carrier Boards.
