Built on a Windows 7 Professional workstation, the Talon® Model RTR 2726 high-speed recording and playback system allows the user to record and reproduce high-bandwidth signals with a lightweight, portable and rugged package. The RTR 2726 provides aggregate recording rates of up to 1.6 GB/sec in a four-channel configuration and is ideal for the user who requires both portability and solid performance in a compact portable recorder. The system records data to the native NTFS file system, thus providing immediate access to the data.
The RTR 2726 is supplied in a small footprint portable package measuring only 16.9″ W x 9.5″ D x 13.4″ H and weighing just 30 pounds. With measurements similar to a briefcase, this portable workstation includes an Intel Core i7 processor, a high-resolution 17″ LCD monitor, and a high-performance SSD SATA RAID controller.
Because SSDs operate reliably under conditions of shock and vibration, the RTR 2726 performs well in ground, ship borne and airborne environments. The eight hot-swappable SSDs provide a storage capacity of up to 4 TB. The drives can be easily removed or exchanged during or after a mission to retrieve recorded data. The system supports simultaneous recording of up to four wideband A/D or multiband DDC channels with bandwidths from 2.5 kHz to 80 MHz. Recorded signals can be reproduced via playback as either baseband or upconverted IF signals.
As with all Pentek recording systems, the RTR 2726 comes with the full support of SystemFlow software for simple system control and operation. The software provides a graphical user interface offering point- and-click configuration, and can store custom configurations for single-click setup. The software also includes signal visualization and analysis tools that allow an operator to monitor signals before, during, and after data collection. These tools include a virtual oscilloscope and a virtual spectrum analyzer.
The RTR 2726 can be controlled remotely through a network connection. This allows the system to operate under full control in environments that may be unsuitable for humans. In an avionics application, for instance, the system could be located on an unmanned platform and controlled by a user at a remote facility.
