– LAAD Defence & Security in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (9-12 April) to provide platform for company to demonstrate its open systems radar processing capabilities including radar scan conversion, target tracking and radar simulation

– Cambridge Pixel looking for distributors, systems integrators and radar manufacturers as seeks to replicate success in Europe, North America and Asia

CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom, March 27, 2013 – Cambridge Pixel (www.cambridgepixel.com), a developer of radar processing and display solutions, is looking for companies (distributors, systems integrators and radar manufacturers) to partner with it and localise its open systems radar processing technology for the Latin American defence and security markets.

Cambridge Pixel’s engineering team has decades of experience of developing complex radar processing and display systems for naval, air traffic control, vessel traffic, security and airborne radar applications in Europe, North America and Asia and is now seeking to replicate this success in Latin America.

The British company will be exhibiting for the first time at the LAAD Defence & Security show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (9-12 April) and using the show to provide a platform to demonstrate its radar processing capabilities including radar scan conversion, target tracking and radar simulation. The biennial LAAD show attracts more than 25,000 visitors from over 50 countries.

Cambridge Pixel provides modules of software for all aspects of radar input, processing, scan conversion and target tracking. This open systems modular approach is extremely cost-effective and allows partners to combine software components from its extensive library with their own customised code, to support localisation of applications and meet specific country requirements.

David Johnson, managing director, Cambridge Pixel, said: “Latin America is largely unchartered territory for Cambridge Pixel but we believe our flexible approach is a compelling one as it gives the customer more freedom and control over the system they are developing. We provide the core technology products, technology transfer (where required) and training to allow our partners to develop, customise and support their own radar solutions.”

For example, Cambridge Pixel’s radar scan converters are mature software-based modules that work with existing graphics code and replace legacy hardware. With a large number of field proven installations, Cambridge Pixel’s technology has been implemented in mission critical applications with companies such as BAE Systems, Barco Defense, Blighter Surveillance Systems, DRS, Kelvin Hughes, Lockheed Martin, Navtech Radar, Raytheon, Samsung Thales, Tellumat and Toshiba.

At LAAD Defence & Security, Cambridge Pixel will be demonstrating its radar scan conversion, target tracking and the recently announced SPx radar simulator. The simulator creates primary radar video with terrain modelling and targets, AIS and navigation data, and provides a high degree of flexibility to build moving target scenarios. It’s aimed at developers of military and commercial radar display applications including Command and Control (C2) systems, Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) for commercial ships, and vessel traffic service (VTS) systems for monitoring marine traffic.
