CHELMSFORD, Mass. – March 18, 2013 – Mercury Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY, www.mrcy.com), a best-of-breed provider of commercially developed, open sensor and Big Data processing systems for critical commercial, defense and intelligence applications, applauds BAE Systems Maritime Services on achieving a critical program milestone with the recent successful installation of its Advanced Radar Target Indication Situational Awareness and Navigation (ARTISAN) medium-range 3D naval surveillance radar on the HMS Iron Duke Type 23 frigate. Mercury’s Application-ready subsystems (ARS) comprise the signal processing element of the ARTISAN system.

ARTISAN 3D radar is a leading-edge, maritime medium-range radar (MRR) designed to improve the performance of the Royal Navy’s primary sensing capability, particularly when operating in a complex littoral, or shoreline, environment. The U.K. Ministry of Defense chose BAE Systems’ ARTISAN 3D radar as the next generation of MRRs for the Type 23 frigates, amphibious ships and the new Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers.

“We are proud of our continuing partnership with BAE and congratulate them on achieving this major program milestone,” said Brian Hoerl, Vice President of Mercury’s Commercial Electronics business unit. “BAE Systems selected Mercury for the ARTISAN program because of our unequalled domain expertise, superior ISR subsystem technology, and ability to design, deliver, and integrate scalable, high-performance computing systems that comprise Mercury and third-party components.”

Mercury’s ARS solutions for the ARTISAN program combine open architecture high density VXS processing modules, a Serial Front Panel Data Port (sFPDP) sensor interface, and RapidIO®-based switch fabric with the MultiCore Plus® software suite, the company’s comprehensive programming framework for multicore processing environments. Mercury’s Services & Systems Integration (SSI) team provides integration services for third-party components used in the radar system.
