SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 19 June 2013 – Parvus Corporation, a Eurotech subsidiary, announced today $4.8M USD in follow-on orders from General Dynamics C4S, the prime contractor for the U.S. Army’s Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) program, the U.S. Army’s highest modernization priority. Parvus has been supplying General Dynamics with ruggedized Ethernet switches for the WIN-T tactical network for the past four years. In total, more than 2000 units have already been deployed or are scheduled for delivery. Deliveries for the latest follow-on orders are expected to happen over the next 3-5 months.
WIN-T Increment 2 leverages proven commercial and government technology, including a ruggedized Cisco-based Ethernet switch subsystem from Parvus, to enable soldiers and commanders with vital communications capabilities on the move and enhance soldier safety and effectiveness.
“WIN-T utilizes Parvus’ rugged COTS networking technology to make on-the-move networks possible and free soldiers from a fixed command post,” said Parvus President Dusty Kramer. “Parvus Ethernet switches are ruggedized to ensure reliability in extreme conditions in the field, and we are pleased our products are assisting the U.S. Army as they update their mobile infrastructure to provide vital situational awareness to soldiers during missions.”
WIN-T Increment 2 began fielding in October 2012 and allows soldiers to utilize applications for maneuver, fires and intelligence from inside vehicles, enabling commanders to make decisions on-the-move and ensuring effective and unpredictable offensive and defensive operations.
Like other COTS IP networking subsystems from Parvus, the rugged Ethernet switch subsystems provided to General Dynamics C4S are MIL-STD qualified and especially hardened for extreme ingress, temperatures, shock, and vibration to ensure reliable local area network (LAN) connectivity to IP-enabled computing and net-centric devices. Combined with advanced Cisco Systems IOS data, video, and voice service features for security, Quality of Service (QoS), and high availability, Parvus’ rugged Ethernet switches enable deployed on-the-ground soldiers to safely communicate, text message, and exchange vital information required on the battlefield.
