RunTime Computing Solutions LLC announces the availability of VSI/Pro®, version 1.20. This latest version of VSI/Pro accelerates High Performance Embedded Computing (HPEC) signal and image processing applications by optimizing functions for Intel® Advanced Vector Extension (Intel® AVX) included in the 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processor family of embedded processors and supporting 64-bit Linux. VSI/Pro, a commercial implementation of the Vector, Signal, and Image Processing Library (VSIPL), offers compliance with the Object Management Group (OMG) VSIPL 1.4 standard.
VSI/Pro takes advantage of the Intel AVX instruction set to dramatically increase the performance of specific VSIPL functions. Intel AVX, a 256-bit instruction set extension to Intel SSE, is designed for floating point intensive applications. To provide the highest performance available, VSI/Pro supports HPEC applications running on 64-bit Linux.
Both single- and double-precision, signal and image processing application support is provided by VSI/Pro with functions such as Fast Fourier Transforms (FFTs), FIR filters, convolutions, and correlations. Linear algebra support includes vector, matrix-to-vector, and matrix-to-matrix operations.
VSI/Pro supports all functions defined by the VSIPL 1.4 Core Profile plus additional useful signal and image processing functions making it the most complete and compliant implementation of VSIPL available, with over 1,000 supported functions. VSI/Pro is supported with GNU GCC/G++ 4.6/GLIBC 2.12 and newer releases.
Developers can recompile their existing VSIPL or VSI/Pro applications that run on a PowerPC platform and move them to an x86 platform running 64-bit Linux with minimal software effort. VSI/Pro is also supported on VxWorks running on both PowerPC and x86 platforms.
VSI/Pro, the leading commercial VSIPL product, is far superior to any open source VSIPL distributions currently available. Open source VSIPL implementations are not current with the OMG standard nor are they actively maintained or supported. Open source VSIPL provides lower performance, limited 64-bit support, and no support for AVX platforms.
