DSEI 2013, LONDON – September 9, 2013 – Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions, a business group of Curtiss-Wright Controls, has announced that its industry leading Vortex™ FSM (Flash Storage Module) FIPS 140-2 Validated 3U VPX removable 1TB storage, Vortex™ CNS (Compact Network Storage) FIPS 140-2 and Vortex™ DTS (Data Transport System) DZUS rugged Network File Server (NFS) products are ITAR-free. These highly engineered COTS data storage solutions are designed for use in any demanding application that requires size, weight, and power (SWaP) optimized storage. They are ideal for customers seeking non-ITAR secure data solutions.
“Ensuring the security of critical data-at-rest is a growing concern for our defense and aerospace customers world-wide,” said Lynn Bamford, senior vice president and general manager of Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions. “By offering system designers our popular Vortex FSM, Vortex CNS, and Vortex DTS products free of ITAR restrictions, our customers can secure their sensitive data, whether at rest, or in transport, while reducing their schedule and regulatory risk.”
About the FSM Module
This high performance, rugged, high-capacity, solid-state SATA VPX3-1TB FSM storage card was designed for SWaP constrained deployed applications that require cryptography and must ensure the integrity of “data-at-rest” in rugged environments such as those endured by transports, helicopters, UAVs and mobile radar systems. The compact small form factor module delivers 1 Terabyte (1TB) of SLC NAND flash memory and can be configured as a JBOD or RAID. To ensure the security of critical data, the FSM has been FIPS 140-2 validated. The COTS FSM is not ITAR controlled.
About the Vortex DTS
Unlike competing systems that use proprietary memory devices, the Vortex Data Transport System uniquely uses industry standard 2.5” SATA solid state drives. This COTS data transport system is the newest member of Curtiss-Wright’s extensive family of Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices. The DTS is easily integrated into Network Centric systems providing a turn-key, rugged Network File Server. Curtiss-Wright’s DTS is ruggedized as required for use in aircraft, mobile vehicles, remote ground stations and heavy industry. These rugged applications require the storage, removal and transport of critical data such as cockpit data (mission, map, maintenance), ISR (sensor data), mobile applications (ground radar, ground mobile, or airborne ISR pods), heavy industrial (steel, refinery), and video/audio data collection (surveillance). The COTS DTS is not ITAR controlled.
About Vortex CNS
The small Vortex CNS package is designed for mounting on an ARINC tray on deployed platforms and provides up to 2TB of encryption solid state storage when configured with two (2) FSM modules. The CNS is “protocol-flexible” supporting CIFS, NFS, HTTP, FTP and PXE protocols on four (4) 1Gb Ethernet connections, making it ideal for sharing critical data in and across network centric systems. This rugged NAS solution is designed for use in a broad range of both manned and unmanned ground, air, and sea vehicles. The amount of data storage is scalable with one (1) or two (2) Flash Storage Modules (FSMs) to provide an extremely rugged, high-performance secure solution for sharing critical data in rugged environments. The COTS CNS is not ITAR controlled.
