ALEA 2014 (Booth #228), PHOENIX, Ariz. – Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that it will display its latest airborne video surveillance and data acquisition recording solutions for police, search and rescue, coast guard, customs, border patrol, and air ambulance helicopter platforms at the upcoming Airborne Law Enforcement Association’s (ALEA’s) annual conference and exhibition, ALEA 2014 (Booth #228), July 16-18, 2014, Phoenix, Ariz. At the conference Curtiss-Wright will be showcasing its industry-leading family of video management systems (VMS) and components including rugged displays and distribution, recording, management, streaming video and flight test instrumentation (FTI) technology designed for use in harsh law enforcement applications.
Products on display at ALEA will include:
• Curtiss-Wright Rugged LCD Displays: The rugged AVDU3000/3600/4300 12”, 14” and 17” LCD Mission Displays feature touchscreen control and provide high definition imagery. Designed specifically for the rugged demands of law enforcement applications, these displays all feature excellent sunlight visibility, full NVIS compatibility and powerful built-in capabilities for viewing multiple video inputs simultaneously.
• VRD1 Video Management System (VMS): Curtiss-Wright’s fully integrated VMS solution provides video switching, recording, network storage and systems capabilities for airborne law enforcement video surveillance platforms. This HD-capable VMS provides video format conversion, scaling, switching and recording supporting 18 video input channels (six each of 3G-SDI, RGB/DVI, CVBS) and 12 video outputs (6 each of 3G-SDI, RGB/DVI).

• Acra KAM-500 Data Acquisition System: The Acra KAM-500 airborne data acquisition unit (DAU) is one of the aviation industry’s leading, most popular, data acquisition solutions for flight test instrumentation (FTI) applications. It has been developed through decades of experience and heavy investment in R&D. Its extremely high reliability results from use of hardwired finite state machines and its compact, low power design makes it ideal for installing onboard police helicopters that have limited space. The modular construction design of the KAM-500 helps reduce the cost of ownership and its network-based design enables large data acquisition systems to be built using cost-effective COTS products.
• SSR/CHS/001 Ethernet Multi-Role Recorder: The rugged SSR/CHS/001 is a compact, lightweight recorder with integrated data acquisition ideal for use on police helicopters. It supports plug-in modules, providing interfaces such as A/D conversion, avionic bus monitoring and video compression. Built-in inputs include audio and IRIG-B/GPS. The recorder’s rear-panel Ethernet port speeds and eases setup and real-time monitoring. The SSR/CHS/001/NFE begins recording automatically upon power-up. Control is via external inputs through the I/O connector or SNMP commands through the Ethernet link.
