FREMONT, Calif. – Elma Bustronic and Elma Electronic Inc. announced this week that the two companies will be merging as of July 1st, 2014, operating under the name of Elma Electronic Inc. Elma Bustronic’s backplane products will continue to be marketed under the Bustronic name as a product brand.
Founded in 1986, Elma Electronic Inc. is a well-respected industry innovator in the design and manufacture of electronic enclosures, systems and components. The company remains steadfastly committed to its leading role in products for PICMG and VITA open standards and rugged COTS packaging. Changing market needs and increasingly complex electronics have increased Elma’s activities in embedded subsystems integration and fueled the company’s added focus on smaller form factor platforms.
Although Elma Bustronic is a wholly owned Elma company, merging the business into Elma will enhance the combined technical strengths of the two entities and accelerate the development of next generation products and services, while providing customers with greater efficiencies and improved team coordination. Operations will continue as usual from the Fremont, Calif. location as Elma Electronic.
“The formal merging of Bustronic into the Elma family strengthens our market position by taking advantage of greater efficiencies and streamlined team coordination,” noted Shan Morgan, president of Elma Electronic Inc. “The value and performance of the combined companies will be greater than the sum of the separate parts.”
Elma has a broad base of customers throughout the Americas in diverse industries such as telecommunications, industrial control, medical electronics, defense and aerospace. Company headquarters, sales and manufacturing are located in Fremont, Calif. with additional operations in Lathrop, Calif., Atlanta, Ga., and Philadelphia, Pa.
As the leader in backplane design since 1989, Elma Bustronic Corp. has delivered innovative and intelligent solutions for a wide range of applications.
“We look forward to offering even better technical responses as part of a highly coordinated solutions team, enabling us to meet the ever-increasing technical challenges in the market,” said Boris Micha, director of sales for Elma Bustronic. “These changes will positively benefit our customers and partners.”
