ASHBURN, VA – January 10, 2012 — Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions (CWCDS), a business group of Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc., has announced that its Santa Clarita, CA business operation, formerly Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems, was officially appraised at Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®) Maturity Level 3 on January 6, 2012 by the SEI, Carnegie Mellon University.
Receiving CMMI Level 3 appraisal is an important accomplishment in the aerospace and defense market that CWCDS serves. Prime contractors increasingly seek sub-contractors who are able to meet CMMI Level 3 requirements to provide assurance that solid and proven processes are in place for software and system development.
“This achievement is testament to Curtiss-Wright’s commitment to provide world class software development services and enables us to proudly join the elite class of companies world-wide that have achieved CMMI® Level 3,” said Lynn Bamford, senior vice president and general manager of Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Systems group. “We are seeing an increasing number of RFPs that require CMMI Level 3 assessment as a minimum requirement to be considered as a viable candidate. Curtiss-Wright is focused on establishing best-practice based processes to deliver best-of-breed quality to our customers. Meeting CMMI Level 3 appraisal requirements reflects the dedication of our management and our entire team to use CMMI® practices effectively to continuously improve our processes and deliver optimal customer satisfaction.”
About CMMI® Level 3
CMMI® Maturity Level 3 organizations have demonstrated that they are more productive, have fewer delivered defects, have lower risk for development, and more consistently meet cost and schedule objectives. The CMMI® Level 3 rating is a distinction that clearly demonstrates to our customers that we are fully committed to high-level process improvements that assure the delivery of superior product, system and service solutions. This maturity level is increasingly becoming a competitive differentiator on many government programs and is consistent with Curtiss-Wright Controls’ culture of continuous improvement and commitment to excellence.
SEI is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and operated by Carnegie Mellon University. Originally commissioned by the DoD to help them qualify software vendors’ capabilities, CMMI is used by organizations worldwide to help them achieve product and process improvements.
