CHELMSFORD, Mass. and LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. – June 23, 2008 – SKY Computers Inc., a leading supplier of embedded high performance computer systems, and SprayCool®, a recognized leader in the development of advanced thermal management solutions for the military, today announced an OEM purchase agreement that enables the delivery of liquid cooled rugged systems for the harshest computing environments.
Under the agreement, SKY will use SprayCools multi-platform enclosure (MPE) to house their just released LightningBolt and ThunderBolt DSP air-cooled EW system cards directly into a liquid cooled rugged enclosure.
The combination of SKY and SprayCool provides a conditioned and controlled environment for COTS electronics under the most difficult use cases in the most compact, lightest-weight package. SprayCool products allow SKY commercial grade electronics to operate within OEM specifications.
“By working with SprayCool, we are able to extend the performance and reliability of our products in environments that could not be achieved with traditional air-cooled enclosures, “said David Bushee, director of OEM sales and services, SKY Computers. “With SprayCool we can not only develop and deploy systems faster, but we can reach a broader base of applications environments and platforms – all qualities our customers look for.”
Customer benefits
With SprayCool, SKY can package more processing power into an existing or smaller space, allowing for penetration of a broader range of application environments and platforms for vibration, shock, EMI, sand, dust, salt water emersion, altitude and temperature. In addition:
· The SprayCool multi-platform enclosure (MPE) enables SKY to package more processing power into an existing or smaller space to optimize for strategic mobile military applications.
· The flexibility offered allows SKY to deploy ThunderBolt and LightningBolt product lines directly into a liquid cooled rugged enclosure, enabling operation of the cards in an environmentally controlled, rugged, sealed enclosure capable of operating in unpressurized harsh environments.
· SprayCool technology will enable SKYs exisiting software applications, including radar processing SIGINT, explosive detection and C4ISR, into new military platforms.
· New applications can be deployed in half the time and cost of traditional conduction cooling.
“We are very excited with the opportunity to be working with SKY team,” said Eric Ballew, Director of Product Marketing at SprayCool. “Through collaboration, innovation, and teamwork we have been able to leverage the strength of the SprayCool MPE product to environmentally isolate commercial grade electronics, enabling SKY greater flexibility to rapidly deploy both existing and new products in a broader range of environmentally challenging applications.”
