Meritec presented Proof of Concept (POC) on September 17, 2014 at the VSO (VITA Standard’s Organization) Meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona. The POC Presentation supported by SI test data validated that the Hercules Product Line is a viable Copper Interconnect for use with Optic Engines. The Hercules Interconnect System is currently The VITA 76 Draft Standard and, while readily accepted for over five years as a rugged high bandwidth copper interconnect, establishing the viability of Hercules as an optic connector platform rounds out the V-76 Standards for both copper and optic cabling in preparation for future balloting. The testing by Meritec demonstrated that the signal quality of a 10Gb/s transmission through the Hercules copper contact array to an optic transmitter, through 100m of optic cable, through an optic receiver and then back through a second Hercules copper contact array is well within the parameters required for successful data transmission. The presentation contained eye patterns of the 10G signal both with and without the Hercules connector in series showing the minimal effect that the connector has on the integrity of the signal.
