Recognized as the authority in solutions that extend product lifecycles, GD California, Inc. announces they have changed their name to GDCA, Inc. (www.gdca.com)

Kip Kingsland, VP of Operations comments, “When we first started, our focus was supplying embedded computing products that were no longer available or supported by their original manufacturers. Today’s businesses are seeing obsolescence as an ongoing problem, and are having to worry about unforeseen costs caused by discontinued parts, including the need for re-engineering and re-certification. We not only continue to be the source of older products, but we also continuously refine the best practices needed to keep our clients moving forward and be more competitive. Our name change and new website is meant to communicate this.”

With the new name comes a new generation of highly evolved long-term support solutions, based on 25 years in business and designed to meet the challenges of the new economy.

“In today’s competitive global market, people want concrete and practical long-term support solutions for their older capital equipment. They also want to know that while our business is about overcoming electronics obsolescence, we’re not about to become obsolete ourselves”, said Ethan Plotkin, President and CEO of GDCA. “We pioneered the concept of Obsolescence Management back in the 1980s, and over the past few years we have implemented the enhanced the operational and strategic capabilities necessary to take this work to a whole new level.”

It is this dedication to indefinitely support so-called “obsolete” embedded computing products that GDCA’s partners and customers have come to expect. They also rely on GDCA to stay on top of new technologies and techniques to satisfy the diverse issues caused by last-time-buy (LTB) notices and the end-of-life (EOL) of a huge number of COTS embedded computing products.

“In response to this cross-industry problem, GDCA has developed a portfolio of products and tailored services that meet the unique needs of a broad range of OEM customers, including medical, transportation, aerospace, industrial and others”, states Steve Roldan, VP of Sales and Marketing, “I am most proud that we routinely deliver the security to customers that their mission-critical applications will continue to perform for as long as necessary.”

Over its lifetime headquartered in the San Francisco bay area, GDCA has reduced long-term support costs and delivered peace-of-mind to more than 2500 customers, and works with a global network of partners and distributors spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
