Mercury Systems Commends Success of Four-event Aegis Combat System Test

CHELMSFORD, Mass. – Mercury Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY, www.mrcy.com), congratulates Lockheed Martin on the recent successful four-event test of the Aegis Combat System’s air warfare (AW) and ballistic missile defense (BMD) capabilities.

During the multi-mission warfare (MMW) tests, jointly conducted by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), U.S. Pacific Command, and U.S. Navy Sailors aboard the USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53), Aegis flawlessly detected, tracked, and engaged two ballistic missile and two air warfare targets, verifying the consistent and replicable performance of BMD upgrades. The tests also marked the first lower atmosphere engagement of a ballistic missile target, demonstrating Aegis’ ability to intercept and engage ballistic missiles during their terminal phase. All flight test events were conducted at the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) in Kauai, Hawaii.

Aegis BMD’s recently upgraded multi-mission signal processor (MMSP), designed and developed by Mercury, enables the Navy to defeat more sophisticated ballistic missile threats using improved target identification capabilities. Together, the Aegis system, MMSP and SPY-1 radar provide the U.S. and allied nations with advanced surveillance and an unprecedented IAMD capability.
