FREMONT, Calif. & SARATOGA, Calif.–International CES – Quantenna Communications, Inc., a leader in ultra-reliable Wi-Fi networking for whole-home entertainment, announced today that SMARTROVE LLC has selected Quantenna’s 802.11n MIMO chipset for use in carrier-grade 3G/4G offload applications to transport critical police video surveillance traffic in Hamilton City, Bermuda. This is the first use of 802.11n wireless to carry Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-enabled telephony across the island of Bermuda applying enterprise grade 802.1X security.

Quantenna’s QHS710 chipset enables SMARTROVE’s SR1410 wireless LAN solution to deliver multiple high-definition (HD) video streams over long haul mesh networks at very low packet error rates (PER). It is the industry’s only commercially available, carrier-grade 4×4 MIMO 802.11n solution capable of offering the superior throughput, coverage and quality necessary to support outdoor applications that require seamless offloading of high quality video from 3G to Wi-Fi over very long distances.

“After months of intensive testing and evaluation, Quantenna’s chipset has proven to deliver wire-like performance in very challenging radio environments,” said Venkat Kalkunte, President and CEO of SMARTROVE LLC. “By combining SMARTROVE’s Layer 3 technologies with the Quantenna chipset, SMARTROVE and GET Security are able to deliver cutting-edge cloud computing and management solutions with enterprise grade security.”

Quantenna’s family of Full-11n™ chipsets deliver up to 600 Mbps of bandwidth with superior range while not comprising quality, enabling four simultaneous video streams throughout a building or home with carrier-grade reliability. The chipsets enable SMARTROVE’s SR1410 wireless mesh solution to deliver multiple concurrent video streams at 1080p-120, 1080p-60 and 1080i resolution to multiple destinations simultaneously.

“We have worked closely with SMARTROVE to develop one of the world’s most robust solutions for challenging Wi-Fi hotspot and carrier backhaul applications,” said Dr. Sam Heidari, chief executive officer for Quantenna. “The combination of Quantenna’s industry-leading 802.11n 4×4 MIMO chipset with SMARTROVE’s unique intelligent traffic controller delivers wire-like throughput for carrier backhaul and public service applications.”

“The SMARTROVE 802.11n mesh network in Hamilton City provides 24×7 high definition video traffic from surveillance cameras using 5 GHz, 4×4 MIMO spatial streams delivering crisp images to the police operations center,” said police commissioner Mr. Mike Jackman.

“The SMARTROVE wireless network allows multiple applications to maintain service level agreements (SLAs). Unlike conventional WLANs which allow applications to work in best effort class of service, what we currently have deployed is a unique combination of phased array antenna technology working in concert with a multi-spatial stream MIMO traffic controller,” said Mr. Kevin Smith, President of GET Security.

“With carriers looking to expand services in heavy traffic areas on the island, customer satisfaction can be maintained by offloading data traffic to the 802.11n backhaul network. Unlicensed radio has practical advantages to carriers,” said Mr. Wayne Caines CEO, Digicel Bermuda.
