March 29, 2006 – Edison, New Jersey and Raleigh, North Carolina – Thales, a leading provider of integrated PowerPC- and Pentium-based VME COTS computing systems and solutions to OEMs and system integrators, and Green Hills Software, Inc., the technology leader in real-time operating systems (RTOS) and device software optimization (DSO), announced today that the two companies have entered into a partner agreement to integrate Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY® RTOS and MULTI® development tools with Thales’ single-board computers (SBCs).
The royalty-free, total-reliability INTEGRITY operating system and board support package from Green Hills Software is available immediately on Thales Computers’ products, starting with the Power Engine 7 family which includes the low power 1 GHz PowerPC 750GX (17Watts typ. for the single processor version).
Alain Albarello, president of Thales computers activities, said, “With its memory protection and system security features, Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY is well positioned to satisfy the most complex safety-critical applications. Combined with our range of high-performance, low-power PowerPC SBC designs, we can now offer the ideal solution for this demanding market.”
“Green Hills Software is pleased to be partnering with Thales Computers. Combining the total reliability of INTEGRITY with Thales Computer’s leading low power VME products will provide a leading combination for avionics, sea, and land-based military projects,” said Dan Mender, director of business development at Green Hills Software.
Under the terms of the partnership agreement, Thales has integrated the Green Hills Software INTEGRITY RTOS and MULTI tools into Thales’ family of advanced technology PowerPC and Intel-based single board computers (SBCs), modules, and integrated systems. This includes INTEGRITY board support package development and verification assistance, product training, and joint marketing.
INTEGRITY-178B has been certified as a part of multiple systems to the FAA’s DO-178B standard top certification level, Level A. INTEGRITY is secure, fast, deterministic, and ideal for embedded applications that place a premium on total reliability, real-time performance and testability. Utilizing a processor’s memory management (MMU) facilities, INTEGRITY builds a firewall between the kernel and user tasks that prevents errant or malicious code from corrupting other user tasks or the kernel. INTEGRITY delivers maximum responsiveness and measurable determinism by running with interrupts continuously enabled and guaranteeing access to both CPU and memory resources for critical tasks.
