Industrial Gigabit Ethernet Switch Cited As Best Performance & Flexibility

Ethernet DirectEthernet Direct—July 4, 20070
FacebookX TwitterPinterestLinkedInTumblrRedditVKWhatsAppEmail

Real time applications coupled with the increasing number of industrial devices now communicating over Ethernet could cause an overload in Industrial Ethernet traffic. This would initially effect the uplink ports of the industrial switches which are distributed in the plant. Many companies are anticipating this growth and purchasing switches with Gigabit uplink ports or switches with full Gigabit capability. These switches have however been very expensive, and in the past have forced individuals to live with switches with 10/100 Mbit connections.

Ethernet Direct now offers a full line of Gigabit switches without the Giga-Price. Finally, Industrial Gigabit switch series are now available to meet the growing number of Industrial applications.

Gigabit switches with superior Price, Performance, and Flexibility

Ethernet Direct switches are premium switches with advanced flexibility and openness. Many of the HMG switches support open SFP connectivity. SFPs (Small Form-factor Pluggable) allow greater flexibility in the choice of media. These miniature transceivers allow mixing of various fiber options or allow upgrades without having to replace the main switch. More cost effective than having to purchase a Modular switch to gain flexibility, Ethernet Direct will be providing switches with four or more SFPs for greater flexibility.

To meet Industrial application demanding extreme operating temperature, Ethernet Direct offers SFP that withstand wide operating temperature of -40 to 85 deg C and comes in typical 10km and overhaul 40 km and 80 km distances for single mode. This gives a large degree of flexibility and scalability depending on the user’s requirement and also leads to significant cost savings.

Ethernet Direct offers switches with SNMP management supporting a mixed of fiber and copper ports with advanced management features. Aside from standard-compatible RSTP protocol, X-ring redundancy provides back-up solution in the shortest time should a network break occurs for fast recovery in Ethernet LAN ring structures. The main focus of providing high quality fault tolerant switches to create a “Fully redundant and fully reliable” Ethernet network.

When deploying an Industrial Gigabit Ethernet switch, a good technical service and easy to access support is quite necessary. To address this, Ethernet Direct offers the most comprehensive reference library for Industrial Ethernet. Graphical presentations help simplify sometimes complex aspects, and application examples help individuals deploying Ethernet in an industrial environment understand subtle differences.
