New M37N M-Module From MEN Micro Inc. Offers Advanced Analog Output Functionality

MEN MicroMEN Micro—August 23, 20070

AMBLER, Pa. – August 2007 – MEN Micro Inc., a world-renown provider of embedded computing and I/O solutions for demanding industrial, mobile and harsh environment applications, has released a new M-Module featuring four grounded voltage or current channels that provide exceptional analog output functionality.

The four channels of the new M37N, which feature an acquisition time of <8.5 microsecond, can be individually adjusted as well as updated automatically and simultaneously. This makes the M37N ideal for applications requiring high-speed data acquisition, superior timing resolution and precise measurement found in automated test environments, process control systems and sensor measurement applications.

The M37N, the latest edition to the company’s extensive M-Module product line, supports a load resistance of more than 600 ohms and features an electrical isolation of 500 V for increased noise immunity and reliability. Low-noise DC/DC converters that can be used over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F), generate the isolated supply voltages of ±15 V for the voltage outputs and +15 V for the current outputs. Voltages can also be optionally supplied by an external source.

The voltage range of the new M-Module is -10 V to +10 V; its output current ranges from 0 mA up to 20 mA; and voltage resolution is 16-bits at an accuracy of 0.1% with extended values possible via additional calibration.

MEN Micro’s M-Modules, first presented in 1988 and ANSI-standardized since 1997, are flexible, modular I/O extensions for industrial bus systems (CompactPCI, PCI, PXI, VME, etc.) and for embedded single board computers. M-Modules can incorporate up to 32 channels on a single card. Their compact size also enables four M-Modules to fit onto one 6U carrier card.

Carrier cards in 3U, 6U and other formats are available for M-Modules. MEN Micro’s line of M-Modules currently includes over 100 different products.

The numerous integrated functions of M-Modules make these cards especially useful for industrial I/O applications such as process data acquisition, motion and robotics and instrumentation.

In order to comply with the RoHS directive (effective since July 1, 2006), all M-Modules, including the new M37N, have either been adapted or redesigned and will now be available for at least 10 more years.

Pricing for the M37N starts at $932. Delivery is six weeks ARO.
