LCR’s VPX and SOSA-aligned chassis management solution provides a configurable, VITA 46.11-compliant approach to simplify system oversight, improve reliability, and support long-term maintainability in mission critical environments.
The chassis manager monitors system health and status across key operating parameters including voltage, temperature, and fan performance. These values are measured, read, and analyzed at regular intervals to provide ongoing visibility into chassis operation. Remote access through the open-source IPMItool provides a command-line option for monitoring, diagnostics, maintenance, and in-field code upgrades without requiring physical access to the system.
When anomalies are detected, the manager can take appropriate corrective action based on configured responses. For example, if a monitored component stops responding or falls outside specified operating thresholds, the manager can trigger a power cycle or reset of the managed FRU to attempt recovery.
The chassis manager is configurable and designed for applications ranging from lab-based development to deployed VPX systems. It can be provided as an assembly with LCR 3U VPX conduction- or air-cooled carrier modules, or with custom carrier boards for internal chassis or direct backplane mounting. The core firmware package can also be tailored by the end user, or by LCR, to meet a variety of chassis management requirements and I/O handling needs.
Whether incorporated into an LCR chassis or integrated into a custom VPX system, the chassis manager provides a standards-based foundation for monitoring, diagnostics, maintenance, and lifecycle support that is configurable around the system.
